Position Title: Long-Term Special Education Aide
Location: Three Rivers Local Schools / Cleves, OH
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment / 2026-2027 School year (August 12, 2026-May 25, 2027)
Pay Rate: $16.52/Hour
About the Role:
Dedicated School Staffing is seeking dedicated and skilled Long-Term Special Education Aides to support students with disabilities by providing academic, behavioral, and functional assistance under the direction of a licensed special education teacher. This role helps ensure students can access the curriculum, participate meaningfully in the school environment, and work toward their individualized education program (IEP) goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support
- Provide one-on-one or small-group academic assistance as directed by the special education teacher
- Reinforce instructional concepts, accommodations, and modifications outlined in students' IEPs
- Support students during general education classes, resource rooms, or specialized settings
- Assist with implementing behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports
Student Care & Supervision
- Monitor students to ensure safety, engagement, and appropriate behavior throughout the school day
- Support students during transitions, lunch, recess, specials, and transportation as needed
- Assist with personal care tasks (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility) when required and appropriate
Behavioral & Social-Emotional Support
- Model and reinforce appropriate social skills, communication strategies, and self-regulation techniques
- Use de-escalation strategies and follow established protocols for crisis intervention
- Track and report behavioral data to support progress monitoring
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with special education teachers, general education teachers, therapists, and administrators
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism regarding student information
- Communicate observations, concerns, and progress to supervising staff
Documentation & Compliance
- Collect data on academic and behavioral goals as directed
- Assist with preparing instructional materials, adapted resources, and classroom supports
- Follow all district policies, safety procedures, and legal requirements related to special education
Required Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid educational aide permit with ESEA Qualified endorsement (additional requirements to obtain this below)
- ESEA endorsement requires the individual to have ONE of the following:
- Passed the ParaPro Assessment
- Hold an associate degree (or higher); OR at least two (2) years of study at an accredited institution (48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours)
- Clean criminal background checks
- Ability to follow teacher direction, adapt to student needs, and remain patient and calm
- Flexibility, empathy, and a commitment to student growth
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to support students who may require lifting, mobility assistance, or crisis intervention
- Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities
- Familiarity with intervention strategies, behavior supports, or small-group instruction
- Additional training or certification in education or child development
