Role Summary
The PMHNP serves as a critical clinical leader, providing advanced psychiatric care and diagnostic services. This role is responsible for the psychiatric safety of our residents, managing complex medication regimens, and ensuring all clinical documentation exceeds DBHDD and CARF regulatory standards.
Primary Job Duties
- Clinical Assessment: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health screenings for residents.
- Medication Management: Prescribe, administer, and monitor psychotropic medications; evaluate for efficacy and side effects (e.g., metabolic monitoring).
- Treatment Planning: Act as the Developmental Disability Professional (DDP) when required, overseeing the implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
- Crisis Leadership: Provide high-level crisis intervention and develop behavioral support plans for individuals with dual diagnoses (I/DD and Mental Illness).
- Regulatory Oversight: Ensure all medical records are audit-ready for state surveys; monitor vital signs and treatment responses with high clinical accuracy.
- Collaboration: Lead multidisciplinary team meetings with therapists, social workers, and families to ensure a consistent, holistic approach to care.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations ensuring patient confidentiality; experience working within hospital medicine or outpatient clinics is preferred.
Job Requirements
- Licensure: Current, valid Georgia license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a specialty in Psychiatry/Mental Health (PMHNP-BC).
- Physician Collaboration: Must have (or be eligible for) a protocol agreement with a supervising physician as per Georgia state law.
- Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program.
- Experience: * Minimum of 2–3 years of psychiatric nursing experience (5 years of caregiving experience preferred).
- Specific experience with the I/DD population and Georgia DBHDD regulations is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Current CPR/First Aid certification; PMHNP Board Certification.
- Operational: Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to pass a comprehensive background check (fingerprinting).
- Attributes: Commitment to professional legitimacy, intentionality in patient care, and the ability to maintain high standards of conduct in a high-stress environment.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work 40–60 hours per week, including rotating shifts.
- Must be 25 years of age or older (per internal policy).
- Must be able to respond physically to behavioral crises if necessary.
Pay: Up to $145,000.00 per year
