Position Overview:
The Clinic Nurse in our Rural Health Clinic and OB/GYN Clinic will provide care to patients at our fast-paced medical clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring patient health, providing treatments, administering medications, and educating patients on health maintenance and disease prevention. Additionally, the Clinic Nurse will work closely with the medical staff to ensure quality care is provided to all patients.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Nurse Navigation and Care Coordination
Serve as a primary clinical point of contact for OB/GYN patients throughout their course of care.
Help patients understand their plan of care, upcoming appointments, testing, procedures, and provider recommendations.
Coordinate care between OB/GYN providers and other departments or specialists.
Track patients requiring ongoing follow-up and ensure recommended care is completed.
Identify gaps or barriers to care and work with patients and the healthcare team to address them.
Facilitate referrals and ensure appropriate records, testing, and clinical information are available.
Assist patients transitioning between clinic, Labor & Delivery, Surgery, MFM, and other levels of care.
Provide timely follow-up after emergency department visits, hospitalizations, procedures, or other significant changes in care when appropriate.
Advocate for patients and help facilitate communication between patients, providers, and the healthcare team.
Obstetric Patient Navigation
Complete or assist with initial OB intake appointments.
Review medical, surgical, obstetric, medication, and pregnancy history.
Provide education regarding prenatal care expectations and recommended appointment schedules.
Review pregnancy warning signs and instructions for contacting the clinic or Labor & Delivery.
Provide education regarding prenatal vitamins, medications, testing, immunizations, and other pregnancy-related recommendations according to approved protocols.
Coordinate routine prenatal laboratory testing, ultrasounds, genetic screening, and other ordered testing.
Track completion of recommended prenatal testing and follow up on outstanding orders.
Assist with coordination of MFM referrals and appointments for high-risk pregnancies.
Help coordinate care for patients who require specialty services outside of the organization.
Assist with scheduling and coordination of postpartum follow-up.
Provide postpartum education and assist with follow-up concerns within the RN scope of practice.
Gynecology Patient Navigation
Coordinate care for patients undergoing evaluation and treatment for gynecologic conditions.
Assist with preparation and education for in-office procedures and surgical procedures.
Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure education.
Follow up with patients regarding pathology, laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic results as directed by the provider.
Coordinate referrals, additional testing, procedures, or follow-up appointments based on provider recommendations.
Assist patients with questions regarding medications, procedures, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
Track patients requiring continued surveillance or follow-up when appropriate.
General Responsibilities:
Assist with the management of patient flow and clinic operations.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
Support billing and insurance processes as required.
Implement emergency protocols and provide life-saving interventions as needed.
Participates in analyzing and planning coordinated nursing services in an assigned area.
Gives skilled nursing care to patients requiring professional nursing service; gives prescribed medications and other treatments.
Interprets care plans and demonstrates appropriate procedures to licensed vocational nurses, nursing aides, and other staff.
Participates in coordinating total clinic services in the interest of the patient.
Provides for continuity of effective patient and family care by exchanging information and cooperating with workers of other community health and welfare agencies concerned such as hospitals, schools, and industries.
Assists families in achieving healthful, safe living for all age groups by giving instructions and guidance in the basic principles relating to accident prevention, communicable disease control, nutrition, child growth and development, and physical and emotional fitness.
Aids individuals and families to accept and adjust positively to physical, mental, and social limitations.
Performs other duties as assigned specific to work area or specialty.

Required Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of professional nursing principles, techniques, basic sciences, and of community health and welfare resources.
Ability to apply professional nursing principles, techniques, and basic sciences in homes, clinics, and the community.
Ability to carry out written and oral instructions and to exercise judgment in the application of nursing care.
Ability to work cooperatively with people and to maintain an objective attitude.

Licenses and Certifications:
Active unencumbered Registered Nurse license with the ND Board of Nursing
Basic Life Support required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support preferred
