About the Role
The Project Controls role supports Division and Business Management by overseeing project cost tracking, reporting, and analysis. This position ensures the accuracy of cost data, prepares reports for leadership review, assists in forecasting, and supports system data entry and operational tracking to drive project performance.
What You’ll Do
Project Cost Tracking & Reporting
- Track budgets, project costs, labor hours, schedule updates, installed quantities, and progress metrics for both direct and subcontracted work
- Prepare and present project cost data on a daily to weekly basis
- Review data for accuracy and escalate discrepancies or risks to Project Teams and Division Management
Data Accuracy & System Management
- Identify, investigate, and correct or reallocate erroneous cost data
- Assist with data entry and maintenance in systems, including:
- New project uploads
- Change orders
- Purchase orders
- Subcontract ledgers
- Perform monthly cost reconciliation between timekeeping systems and Viewpoint
Forecasting & Analysis
- Support cost forecasting, cost analysis, and materials tracking
- Monitor project performance and identify trends, risks, and cost overruns
- Assist with development of operational tracking and efficiency metrics
Project Reviews & Collaboration
- Prepare and support monthly project cost reviews, including:
- Current and forecasted costs
- Purchase order status
- Subcontractor performance
- Budget variances and overruns
- Collaborate with project and field teams to ensure alignment between operational execution and financial tracking
Additional Responsibilities
- Support operational reporting and performance tracking initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet business needs and maintain competitiveness
What You Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Experience in Analysis skills, or construction accounting
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of construction cost controls and GAAP
- requirements (TXDOT preferred)
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Reporting tools such as Power BI
- Experience with Trimble Viewpoint and/or HCSS (preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- High attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities
Other Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment
- Occasional travel to project sites and/or offices
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based with occasional visits to active construction sites
- Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods
- Ability to travel as required
