Summary
Sorts and inspects plated parts for defects, records quality data, and ensures accurate routing of parts and documentation in the plating department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Visually inspect parts for defects using magnifiers and microscopes
- Perform heat testing and separate product by size or shape
- Record red tags and production data in logs
- Build jobs and route parts accurately
- Enter plating labor into Epicor
- Monitor MRB routing and maintain quality traceability
- Uphold Positronic’s standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
- Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.
- Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
- Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 to 3 months of experience in a similar position preferred
- Must pass appropriate testing to advance in the ABC program
Physical
- Long periods of sitting; occasional standing and walking
- Frequent hand/finger dexterity for sorting small parts
- Occasionally push, pull, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs
- Uses magnification and color distinction for inspections
- PPE includes safety glasses, gloves, and other necessary equipment
Shift: First Shift (Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm)
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a chemical lab environment with frequent exposure to fumes. Involves small parts handling under magnification. Proper PPE is required.
Competencies
Knowledge
- Knowledge of visual inspection techniques and defect detection.
- Familiar with basic quality systems and sorting documentation.
- Understanding of data entry procedures and inventory tracking.
- Basic chemistry and safety awareness for handling finished plated parts.
Skills
- High attention to detail for visual inspection of parts.
- Ability to accurately record and route part data.
- Skilled in sorting, handling, and organizing parts.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Abilities
- Steady hand control for precise material handling and inspections.
- Good physical flexibility for bending, reaching, and occasional kneeling.
- Hand-eye coordination and dexterity for operating small equipment.
- Ability to stay focused on repetitive tasks without distraction.
