Duties
- Assist physical therapists with patient preparation, including setting up treatment areas and ensuring equipment readiness
- Support patients during therapy sessions by providing encouragement and ensuring safety protocols are followed
- Help with patient intake procedures, including gathering medical history and explaining therapy processes
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of therapy spaces, equipment, and supplies to ensure a safe environment
- Monitor patient progress during sessions and report observations to the supervising therapist
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare team members to promote a smooth treatment flow
- Assist with documentation of patient activities, treatment notes, and session details in accordance with hospital or clinic protocols
Skills
- Strong commitment to patient service and compassionate patient care
- Basic understanding of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to physical therapy
- Prior hospital or clinical experience, especially in inpatient or outpatient settings
- Knowledge of acute care, post-acute care, orthopedics, geriatrics, and sub-acute care environments
- Familiarity with intake procedures and outpatient clinic operations
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced hospital or clinic environments involving hospital medicine and outpatient services
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with healthcare professionals and support patient needs effectively
