Job Summary
Empathy United is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and responsible Shift Leaders to help oversee daily operations and provide leadership and support to our direct support staff. The Shift Lead will help ensure that individuals receiving services receive safe, respectful, person-centered care while staff follow company policies, procedures, and service plans.
The ideal candidate is someone who leads by example, communicates effectively, handles challenges professionally, and is committed to providing high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Assistance with coverage when staffing issues arise.
- Provide leadership and guidance to direct care staff during assigned shifts.
- Ensure staff are following individual service plans, care plans, and company policies.
- Assist with coordinating daily staff responsibilities and shift duties.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of services being provided.
- Support individuals with activities of daily living, personal care, household tasks, transportation, and community activities as needed.
- Assist staff with challenging situations and provide appropriate direction and support.
- Communicate important updates, concerns, incidents, and changes in an individual’s needs to management.
- Help ensure staff arrive on time and are properly prepared for their assigned shifts.
- Help train and mentor new employees on daily expectations, client support, and company procedures.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and professional work environment.
- Protect the privacy, dignity, and rights of individuals receiving services.
- Report safety concerns, incidents, suspected abuse or neglect, and other issues according to company policy and applicable requirements.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, families, case managers, and other members of the individual’s support team.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other company activities as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in home healthcare, caregiving, direct support, behavioral health, or a related field preferred.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is a plus.
- Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and able to work independently.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during difficult situations.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be comfortable working with individuals with intellectual, developmental, physical, or other support needs.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must successfully complete required background checks and company training.
- Valid Drivers License and Reliable transportation.
- CPI/CPR/First Aid certification and medication-related training are preferred or must be completed with us as required.
