Job Summary
We are seeking energetic and compassionate Classroom Support staff to join our Head Start team. In this role, you will play a vital part in creating a nurturing learning environment for young children, assisting teachers with daily classroom activities, and supporting children's developmental needs. The Classroom Support staff member is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for children, staff, and families along with meal service, assisting in the classroom, and shopping. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on children’s lives.
Responsibilities
- Support classroom management by helping maintain a safe, organized environment for children.
- Work closely with children to promote positive behavior management and social-emotional skills.
- Help facilitate communication between teachers, children, and families to foster a collaborative learning atmosphere.
- Support classroom routines such as snack time, nap time, and transitions to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Adhere to all principles of confidentiality.
- Clean Head Start areas and bus.
- Maintain playgrounds – i.e. snow and ice removal, mow, sweep sidewalks, pick up trash, etc.
- Prepare/serve simple breakfast, serve lunch from public school, and serve snack. Cleanup after meals and snacks.
- Grocery shopping for snack time.
- Report bus mileage.
- Submit maintenance request for facility maintenance and bus upkeep.
- Attend Safety and Sanitation training.
- Successfully complete CPR and First Aid
- Drive bus routes, when applicable.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or early childhood education settings is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team are essential for success in this role.
