Job Summary
The Estimator/Project Manager will be responsible for acquiring new projects and successfully directing their execution. For projects lacking formal blueprints or specifications, the ideal candidate will conduct thorough site walk-throughs, design plumbing layouts, generate material and labor estimates, and manage on-site field production. This dual role requires a highly adaptable professional capable of balancing pre-construction estimating with end-to-end project management, budget control, and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Pre-Construction
- Conduct detailed site visits and structural assessments to evaluate existing plumbing infrastructure when formal blueprints are unavailable.
- Perform conceptual estimating and create design-build proposals by calculating labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Develop comprehensive scopes of work, clarify project assumptions, and clearly document all inclusions and exclusions in bid proposals.
- Solicit and analyze competitive vendor and supplier quotations to ensure accurate and profitable pricing.
Project Management
- Oversee the full project lifecycle, including planning, resource allocation, and scheduling to ensure efficient execution.
- Maintain strong, transparent communication with clients, architects, engineers, and internal leadership regarding project progress and design-related issues.
- Negotiate contracts, handle change orders, and ensure all installations comply with local plumbing codes and industry safety standards.
- Resolve jobsite issues, manage punch lists, and oversee project closeouts to achieve full customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of proven experience in plumbing estimating and project management. Field plumbing experience and design-build capabilities are highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong ability to read, interpret, and manually sketch or conceptualize mechanical drawings and plumbing layouts.
- Software: Proficiency with estimating/takeoff software and Microsoft Office.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of local and national plumbing codes and regulations.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with a proven track record of bringing projects in on time and under budget
Pay: $70,612.37 - $85,038.55 per year
