The Operations Manager oversees all daily operations of the trucking company, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant transportation services. This role involves managing drivers, logistics, maintenance, driving when necessary, and ensuring regulatory compliance to maximize profitability while maintaining exceptional safety and service standards.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
Must be available for on-call communication Monday–Friday 5:00 PM–8:00 PM and Saturday–Sunday 7:00 AM–7:00 PM.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee daily dispatching, routing, and scheduling of CDL drivers and fleet vehicles.
- Ensure all lanes are dispatched according to the customer's obligated schedule.
- Willing to personally drive a route to cover drivers in emergencies as needed.
- Monitor and analyse delivery operations to ensure on-time performance and service quality.
- Implement efficiency improvements for routes, fuel usage, and load planning.
- Ensure trucks and drivers meet DOT standards before departure.
Driver Supervision and HR Management
- Road test and train qualified CDL drivers and support staff.
- Monitor driver performance, compliance, and adherence to company policies.
- Conduct regular in-person driver meetings on safety, updates, and performance reviews.
- Resolve personnel conflicts, enforce disciplinary actions when necessary, and recognize high performers.
Compliance and Safety Oversight
- Ensure full compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) and ELD requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date driver qualification files, vehicle inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
- Conduct periodic audits and safety inspections to minimise violations or accidents.
- Implement and enforce company safety policies and accident response procedures.
Fleet and Maintenance Management
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs to minimise downtime.
- Collaborate with mechanics and vendors for parts, inspections, and repairs.
- Recommend fleet expansion, upgrades, or replacements based on operational needs.
Customer Service and Relationship Management
- Maintain strong relationships with FedEx Express and their customers.
- Address customer concerns and resolve service issues promptly.
- Ensure delivery accuracy and timeliness to support customer satisfaction and retention.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid CDL-A (required) with a deep understanding of CDL operations.
- Doubles/Triples Endorsement (On-site training available)
- Minimum 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience within the last three years.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) — no accidents or tickets in the past 3 years.
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in transportation or logistics management.
- Exceptional leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in dispatch and fleet management software.
- Ability to manage budgets, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
