Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks within 500 mile radius from DC/MD routes.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using manual handling techniques, forklifts, or other equipment as needed.
- Navigate routes accurately using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries across multiple locations.
- Comply with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, FMCSA rules, and safety protocols during all phases of driving and cargo handling.
- Load & unload freight carefully, ensuring proper securing of cargo such as freight, freight containers, or specialized loads like tanker or roll-off trucks.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, inspections, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to coordinate deliveries and resolve any route or cargo issues promptly.
- Uphold safety standards by following hazard communication procedures when handling dangerous goods or hazardous materials.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and delivery driving.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL)
- Hands-on experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks or similar equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat), and safety compliance standards.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently; familiarity with manual handling techniques is essential.
- Skilled in GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning across OTR routes.
- Experience in truck loading/unloading procedures including forklift operation when necessary.
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling processes for freight transportation.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety; ability to handle hazardous or dangerous goods responsibly.
- Physical stamina to handle manual loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road.

Pay: $1,500.00 - $2,200.00 per week
