DUTIES:
- Supervises garage maintenance operations on local and primary roads.
- Develops maintenance plans and schedules for routine road work.
- Manages the service request system for the assigned area.
- Purchases parts and maintenance supplies in accordance with Berrien County purchasing policies while maintaining proper inventory levels and monitoring orders for specification compliance.
- Prepares time sheets, material and parts usage reports, purchase orders, inventory records, equipment records, and other required Road Department documentation.
- Collaborates with township supervisors to identify current and future road projects.
- Performs personnel functions including training, counseling, performance evaluations, interviewing, hiring recommendations, and disciplinary recommendations when necessary.
- Identifies and addresses maintenance needs including pothole and pavement repairs, shoulder repairs, visibility improvements, drainage work, sign and pavement marking maintenance, pavement sweeping, snow and ice control, gravel road improvements, bridge and culvert repairs, guardrail repairs, encroachment removal, and related roadway maintenance activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in Construction Management or a closely related field and five years of construction experience; OR
- High school diploma or equivalent and seven years of construction experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver license with no nighttime driving restrictions.
- Must also possess and maintain a valid Michigan Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) and required medical card at all times.
