Hosts and Hostesses at the Smoke Shop are responsible for providing an incredible guest experience in an environment that prioritizes hospitality and great BBQ. Specifically, Hosts and Hostesses help create great BBQ moments for guests from the moment they enter our doors.
Job Responsibilities:
- Represent the Smoke Shop by welcoming guests in warm and friendly manner
- Greets guests in a friendly and professional manner and escorts guests to table based on organizational seating chart. Maintains a constant flow of information regarding seating capacities, guests’ special requests, events/groups, and status of reservations to floor staff, managers and kitchen personnel.
- Promptly, courteously and professionally answers incoming calls for reservations, provides directions and refers calls to appropriate parties when needed always following the restaurant’s phone etiquette procedures.
- Required to help seat guests including following the procedure for pulling chair(s) out for guest to be seated in, whenever possible.
- Completes all assigned opening/closing side work to prepare host area. Ensures that entrance and host areas are clean and organized during work shifts.
- Maintains detailed knowledge of reservations, all menus, and other restaurant information, such as restaurant hours, address, directions, dress code, phone numbers, etc.
- Effectively communicates with management, kitchen staff, and serving staff to always ensure effective guest flow and efficiency.
- Cross-serves and/or assists team members as-needed to ensure that guests receive the best possible service.
- Assists team members with transferring, preparing and receiving guests’ payments and all transactions with complete accuracy and promptness.
- Accurately receives and promptly processes orders and gift cards. Confirm that orders are correct and complete. Collects accurate payment from guests.
- Prepares all end of shift paperwork accurately and submits all transactions (including cash, charge, etc.) at the end of each shift.
- Notifies kitchen management staff and management personnel of reservation and guest changes and updates.
- Effectively communicates health and/or safety concerns/violations immediately to the manager.
- Ensures that guests’ items left behind are labeled and placed in the designated area and expedites the personal notification to the guest regarding this item(s), as well as notifying the on-duty Manager.
- Accurately records time worked including the review and verification of “punched” time
- Attends all informational and team building meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to ensure the smooth operation of the restaurant and to meet the needs of guests and team members.
Other Duties as Assigned— this list of key responsibilities is non-exhaustive. The Kitchen Host/Hostess will be required to undertake additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Schedule: Full-Time, varying schedule, available on nights, weekends and holidays
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
- 0 - 2+ years of prior restaurant service experience
- Knowledge of safe cleaning and sanitizing practices in a restaurant environment
- Positive attitude, sense of urgency, willingness to grow + develop
