Maintenance Mechanic
PURPOSE OF JOB: To maintain equipment in an uncompromised state of readiness, regarding all GMP, safety and professional quality standards, and to inspect, maintain, repair, rebuild and modify as directed any/all manufacturing equipment and machinery facility or facility ancillary equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Repair first - replace if necessary - any part causing breakdown in machinery in plant facilities.
- Troubleshoot recurring breakdowns for prevention and recommend procedure changes.
- Utilize any/all testing equipment or diagnostic skills to determine real cause of problems.
- Instruct equipment operators as needed to prevent machine or system damage.
- Perform preventive maintenance to keep equipment in sound working condition.
- Assist with facility repairs and maintenance as needed.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all work performed utilizing maintenance management software.
- Support machine setups and changeovers as needed.
- Maintain clean and safe work area at all times and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
This is a safety sensitive position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a industrial maintenance environment.
- High school diploma or GED required; formal technical training preferred.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude. Must pass in-house mechanical aptitude test(s).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and PLC troubleshooting and repair, basic computer operations, safety procedures, welding, plumbing and refrigeration.
- Self-starter who can work as team player.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all staff.
- Willingness and availability to work overtime or on an emergency “on call” basis as needed.
- Ability to read, write and converse in English.
- Ability to meet the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) required in a food manufacturing environment.
TYPES OF EQUIPMENT USED ON JOB: Variety of hand tools, powered tools, powered material handling equipment including pallet jacks and forklifts.
