LIFE CLAIMS EXAMINER
(Full Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly)

Position Summary:
The Life Claims Examiner investigates and maintains basic life insurance claims, reviewing and evaluating coverage and liability and securing the information needed to review and pay claim benefits. This role works within specific limits and authority on assignments of moderate complexity, handling claims of high frequency and low severity under moderate supervision, and helps ensure that claims are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:

Investigates and maintains basic claims.

Reviews and evaluates coverage and/or liability.

Secures and analyzes necessary information to review and pay claim benefits (i.e., reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements, records, or other documents).
- May affect settlements/reserves within prescribed limits; submits recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority.

Conveys simple information (coverage, decisions, outcomes, etc.) to all appropriate parties, maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations.

Ensures that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.

Ensures claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

3+ years of related experience.

Works within specific limits and authority on assignments of moderate complexity.

Handles claims of high frequency and low severity.

Possesses basic functional knowledge and skills reflective of study and/or on-the-job development.

Performs work under moderate supervision.

Possesses good verbal and written communication skills.
