JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for instructing, onboarding, and training current and new professional drivers on the fundamentals needed to have a successful career at Wilson Logistics. This position reports to the Training Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct drivers using classroom and hands on training formats in:

Hours of Service (paper logs/ELD’s)

Map Reading
-
Telematics System (OmniTracs / Samsara)
- Test new drivers on Pre-trip/Backing/Road Skills/Job Hazard Analysis.

Perform safety reviews of current drivers, as needed.

Manage, train, and schedule trainers.
- Shuttle trucks, equipment and drivers as needed, primarily in a company provided vehicle.

Travel to other terminal locations.

Prepare for training sessions and keep up to date on FMCSA regulations and industry trends.

Facilitate driver introductions to other departments.

Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a primarily outdoor environment with varied weather conditions, including hot, cold and wet. This position may work on off hours to facilitate the needs of the business.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The associate may be required to sit continuously for periods of up to four hours. Required to frequently stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, reach with hands and arms. Frequently (up to 10%) required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach. Frequently lift, move up to thirty-five pounds and occasionally lift and move up to seventy-five pounds.
Communicate verbally and have faculty of hearing. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Read/write/speak English, interpersonal skills, problem solving, analyzing, evaluating, and shifting of work priorities.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Maintain current State of Residence CDL with proper endorsements to include physical requirements/medical card.

Certification as a Missouri CDL Examiner – or earn certification within the first 180 days of employment in this position.

High School Diploma or GED.
-
2 or more years of driving experience as a commercial vehicle operator.

Safety leader experience a plus.

Knowledge and understanding of FMCSA regulations.

Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills.
