We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Registered Nurse to join our team.
The Perioperative RN provides nursing care throughout the surgical experience including pre-operative assessment, post-anesthesia recovery, and intraoperative support as needed. This role works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and clinical staff to ensure excellent patient outcomes and efficient surgical flow. Key Responsibilities:
- Complete pre-operative patient assessments, chart review, medication reconciliation, and IV starts.
- Verify informed consent, surgical site/procedure, and compliance with pre-op instructions.
- Prepare patients for surgery and provide education to patients/families.
- Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, discharge instructions, and post-op care.
- Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia.
- Assess and manage pain, airway, vitals, and post-op recovery needs.
- Administer medications, fluids and treatments as ordered.
- Recognize and respond promptly to post-operative complications or emergencies.
- Provide discharge teaching to patients and caregivers.
- Support room setup, turnover, and readiness between cases, equipment readiness, and supply management.
- Maintain accurate EMR documentation and follow infection control/safety protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance activities.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current unrestricted MN Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Previous experience in outpatient or hospital surgical settings is desired.
- BLS certification required (or obtained within 6 months of hire).
- ACLS certification required (or obtained within 6 months of hire).
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and perioperative safety standards.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-2 years of nursing experience in perioperative, PACU ICU, ER, OR, or surgical nursing preferred.
- Previous ambulatory surgery center experience preferred.
- Moderate sedation recovery competency preferred.
Schedule:
Business Hours: Monday-Thursday - Occasional Fridays - 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
