Responsibilities
- Provide personalized support to clients with developmental disabilities, autism, or behavioral health challenges, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times
- Assist with daily living activities, including medication administration, hygiene, meal preparation, and routine health monitoring such as vital signs checks
- Implement behavior management strategies and applied behavior analysis techniques to promote positive behaviors and skill development
- Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management when urgent situations arise, maintaining calmness and ensuring client safety
- Collect accurate data on client progress, behavior patterns, and medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
- Support clients during intake processes and coordinate with healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care
- Document all interactions thoroughly using medical documentation standards and maintain up-to-date medical records
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is highly preferred
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and crisis management protocols
- Familiarity with working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Experience in special education or addiction counseling is a plus
- Ability to monitor vital signs accurately and recognize signs of distress or medical emergencies
- Strong understanding of social work principles and behavioral health practices
- Competence in medication administration following prescribed guidelines
- Ability to perform medical terminology comprehension and maintain precise medical records
- Excellent communication skills for effective data collection, documentation, and client interaction
- Commitment to confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards
