This is a responsibly advanced level skilled, technical, and supervisory work in installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing water, stormwater, sewer pumping, and control equipment, installations, and facilities in the City’s Public Works Department. Work includes primarily field duties. The emphasis of work is on pumping stations and related facilities. Work involves the performance of and the direction of crews in performing all phases of the operation, care, and repair of water, stormwater, sewer, and control equipment.
Employees in this classification ensure safe working conditions, maintain water flow, and test the water supply. The emphasis of work is the monitoring and adjusting pressures and flows through the operation of manual and electrical controls, maintenance of equipment and facilities, and minor or emergency repairs, generally in the control facility or individual pumping station. This position reports to the Pump Shop Mechanic I and Pump Shop Supervisor.
