Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate part-time Special Education Teacher to join our team. This role is essential in providing tailored educational experiences for children with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of childhood development and be skilled in various therapeutic approaches to support the academic and social growth of students.
Duties
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of each student.
- Utilize behavioral therapy techniques to promote positive behavior and emotional well-being in the classroom.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other educators to ensure a collaborative approach to learning.
- Design engaging lesson plans that incorporate literacy education and early intervention strategies.
- Provide support in speech therapy as needed, facilitating communication skills among students.
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet evolving educational needs.
- Create a nurturing classroom environment that fosters growth, independence, and confidence among students.
- Collaborate with daycare or childcare providers to ensure consistency in care and education strategies outside of school hours.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification in Special Education is required.
- Experience working with children with special needs is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early intervention practices.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with students and families.
- Familiarity with lesson planning techniques tailored for diverse learning styles.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
