OC Children's Therapeutic ARTS Center is looking for a Literacy and Numeracy Coach (tutor) to join our team in Santa Ana, CA. This position will work with youth from the Youth Employment Program on their reading and math levels, helping them to improve their reading skills and math skills. The tutor is part of the Youth Employment Program team at the OC Children's Therapeutic Arts Center. The tutor assists Santa Ana youth ages 16-24 to improve their reading and math skills. The tutor will meet with each individual youth once to twice a week for an hour to two to help them improve on the Test of Adult Basic Education test scores. The tutor is also responsible for completing case notes at the end of day.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working with students in reading and math levels from kindergarten through college (Algebra to Trigonometry on a case-by-case basis).
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with youth with one of the following populations: disabilities, foster youth, homeless youth, and youth pertaining to the LGBTQ community.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Experience working with students who have academic difficulties is preferred, but not required.
