Job description
The job involves putting patients in rooms, drawing their blood, collecting specimens the patients have produced, bringing them to the lab, and relatively easy testing (bone density and in body which we can teach you.)
This position is much more enjoyable and varied than a typical phlebotomy position. You will have the opportunity to learn about different areas of our clinical side and laboratory procedures.
We are looking for someone thorough, accurate, and exacting as well as warm, personable, and comfortable working with patients. You will be assisting the laboratory and the clinicians as well as working with patients on your own.
Responsibilities
· Draws blood from patients; delivers specimens to Laboratory.
· Assesses the physical condition of patients during phlebotomy and takes appropriate action; maintains phlebotomy supply levels.
· Performs therapeutic phlebotomies.
· Instructs patients regarding collection of specimens and brings specimens to the lab after production.
· Processes blood and other specimens in the laboratory
· Identifies and communicates problems to the Supervisor.
· Restocks lab supplies.
· Assist in cryo-banking consultations.
· Performs operation support duties including, but not limited to rooming patients, prepping, and cleaning exam rooms, performing bone density & In Body testing, and participating in quality assurance and control initiatives.
· Assists with in-office procedures such as testosterone pellet insertion, vasectomy, mona lisa, etc.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or equivalent required.
· 2+ years of technical experience
· Phlebotomy certification a plus
· Must be able to work in our NYC and Purchase locations.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
