BROAD FUNCTION
The Residence Hall Director (RHD) is responsible for the daily administration of one of four residence halls located on the campus of Onondaga Community College. This position includes supervisory, operational, programmatic, and student conduct responsibilities. RHDs play a critical role in fostering safe, inclusive, and student-centered residential communities that support student wellbeing, engagement, belonging, academic success, and the holistic educational experience of the College. This is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and maintain inclusive residence hall communities that promote student engagement, belonging, wellbeing, accountability, and a positive living-learning environment aligned with the mission, vision, and goals of the College.
Directly supervise a staff of four to six Resident Assistants (RAs), including recruitment, selection, training, scheduling, evaluation, and ongoing professional and leadership development through weekly staff meetings and individual RA supervision sessions.
Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of residential education and co-curricular programming designed to support student success, academic achievement, personal growth, multicultural learning, leadership development, and retention. This includes developing and facilitating RHD led programming and supporting and advising student staff in their programmatic efforts.
Coordinate and support Living-Learning Communities through collaboration with faculty partners and campus stakeholders to create intentional educational and community-building experiences for residential students.
Build supportive relationships with students by maintaining a visible and accessible presence, including evening and weekend hours as required, within the residence halls and providing guidance, referrals, conflict mediation, and proactive support related to academic, personal, social, and behavioral concerns.
Serve in an on-call rotation and respond to student crises, emergencies, behavioral concerns, facilities issues, and critical incidents in accordance with institutional policies and protocols.
Communicate, interpret, and uphold College policies, residence hall procedures, and community standards while fostering student development and responsible decision-making.
Collaborate with campus partners including academic support services, counseling services, enrollment management, student conduct, accessibility services, athletics, campus safety, and other departments to enhance the residential student experience and support institutional enrollment and retention initiatives.
Serve as a liaison to facilities, maintenance, custodial, and housekeeping personnel to support the safety, cleanliness, functionality, and operational readiness of the residence halls.
Oversee individual residence hall, and support department-wide, administrative and operational functions including occupancy management, room condition documentation, key inventories and distribution, opening and closing procedures, recordkeeping, programming assessment, and resource management.
Support divisional and campus-wide initiatives through committee participation, collaborative projects, orientation and onboarding efforts, and active involvement in Residence Life and Student Affairs programs and events.
Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency
Previous higher education administration, student affairs, residence life (campus affiliated housing), or community housing management experience is required
Valid driver's license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous hall director experience
Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.
Community College experience
Experience working within diverse populations

Additional Information:
Position is a live-in position.
Salary range is: $44,000- $55,000, commensurate with credentials and relevant experience.
