Job Summary:
The Production Technician Assistant supports all hands-on production activities required to manufacture finished GFRC and UHPC panels, excluding welding and steel fabrication operations. This role focuses on mold preparation, casting support, curing, demolding, finishing, quality hold compliance, and packaging, ensuring safe flow, high quality, and on time delivery.
Core Responsibilities by Production Phase
1. Work Area & Material Preparation
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized production areas in accordance with 5S and plant standards
- Stage production materials including cement, sand, fibers, admixtures, release agents, sealers, and packaging materials
- Assist with internal movement of materials using carts, pallet jacks, or forklifts (if certified)
- Prepare production areas prior to scheduled casting activities
- Remove waste, wash down areas, and reset workspaces between production cycles
2. Mold Preparation & Setup
- Clean molds thoroughly between cast cycles to meet surface and quality requirements
- Apply mold release agents per approved SOPs (manual or assisted application)
- Install and inspect mold gasketing, seals, block outs, and accessories
- Assist with mold alignment, leveling, and securing to tables or bases
- Verify mold readiness before batching begins and escalate issues immediately
- Support vibration table setup and positioning
3. Mixing, Batching & Casting Support
- Stage batching materials prior to production
- Assist batch and spray operators by:
- Adding fibers or dry components when directed
- Handling material hoses and spray lines
- Supporting pour operations on vibration tables
- Monitor material flow, coverage, and cleanliness during casting
- Clean mixers, buckets, pumps, hoses, and tools after batching
4. Curing & Environmental Control
- Cover fresh panels using tarps, plastic, or curing blankets
- Assist with installing heaters, enclosures, or moisture control where required
- Maintain clear no traffic zones around curing panels
- Monitor curing conditions and report temperature, moisture, or disturbance issues
5. Demolding & Handling
- Assist with safe demolding of GFRC panels using approved lifting methods
- Handle panels carefully to prevent cracking, edge damage, or surface defects
- Move panels to designated finishing, inspection, or staging areas
- Clean molds immediately after demolding and prepare for next production cycle
6. Finishing Operations
- Perform or assist with panel finishing tasks including:
- Edge cleanup and grinding
- Surface patching and repair
- Final surface preparation
- Support acid etch, rinse, or wash processes as directed
- Maintain finish quality standards and flag defects immediately
- Clean and store tools properly after finishing operations
7. Quality Hold & Inspection Support
- Present panels for quality inspection at defined hold points
- Tag, mark, and stage panels per inspection status
- No product moves forward without inspection and release approval
- Assist with documentation and corrective action tasks as directed
8. Packaging, Staging & Shipping Preparation
- Apply protective materials to finished panels (foam, wrap, spacers)
- Stage panels on racks, bunks, or pallets per shipping plan
- Assist with labeling and panel identification
- Maintain organized and damage free staging areas
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all required PPE and safety procedures
- Maintain awareness of hazards including wet concrete, chemicals, mobile equipment, and overhead lifting
- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents immediately
- Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Stop work when unsafe conditions exist
Required Skills & Capabilities
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment

Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs routinely

- Follow all PPE requirements without exception
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures related to chemicals, wet concrete, lifting, vibration tables, heaters, and mobile equipment

- Stop work and escalate when unsafe conditions exist

Quality Discipline
- Perform all tasks in accordance with SOPs and work instructions
- Maintain clean molds, tools, and work areas to prevent defects
- Always handle panels carefully to avoid cracks, chips, or surface damage

- No product advances without inspection and release approval
Expectation: No rework, defects, or quality escapes caused by handling, cleanliness, or failure to follow the process.
Production Execution
- Arrive prepared for daily production activities with tools and PPE ready
- Follow supervisor direction and production sequencing without deviation
- Maintain pace and urgency appropriate to production targets without sacrificing safety or quality
- Complete assigned tasks fully before moving to the next operation
Expectation: Production tasks are completed right the first time and on schedule.
Housekeeping & Organization
- Maintain clean, organized workspaces throughout the shift—not just at end of day
- Return tools, equipment, and materials to designated locations
- Remove waste, wash down areas, and reset stations between production cycles
Expectation: Work areas are always production ready and audit ready.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work cooperatively with batch, spray, finishing, quality, and logistics teams
- Communicate issues early—mold concerns, curing risks, damage, or material shortages
- Accept feedback and coaching constructively
- Support cross training as directed
Expectation: Problems are surfaced early, not discovered after defects or delays occur.

- Learn GFRC specific materials, processes, and quality standards
