Mechanical Assembler Job Description
The Mechanical Assembly Production position is responsible for assembling quality mechanical components, and finished products per work instructions. This non-exempt role supports a safe, efficient production environment, Position uses hand tools, measuring equipment, and manufacturing processes to complete assemblies accurately and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Read and follow assembly instructions, production traveler routings.
- Assemble mechanical parts, and subassemblies using hand tools, fixtures, and production equipment.
- Identify and report defective materials, nonconforming parts, equipment issues, or safety concerns to a supervisor or lead.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and maintained according to company standards.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of tools and equipment.
- Other Job Duties as assigned
Qualification requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Some mechanical assembly experience may be required
- Basic reading skills. Must be able to follow directions
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
- High attention to detail and self-motivation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in mechanical assembly, production assembly, or related manufacturing work.
- Experience working with hand tools.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, or torque wrenches.
Physical demands and abilities
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, grip, push, pull, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lb on a repetitive basis, and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to work with small parts, tools, and mechanical components requiring hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, which may include safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, safety footwear, or other job-specific PPE.
Work Environment
Environmentally controlled workplace. The role may involve exposure to noise, mechanical components, oils, solvents, or other shop-floor conditions. Employees are expected to follow all safety rules, quality procedures, and company policies at all times.
Schedule and Employment Type
Flexible 40 hour 1st shift, 6:30am-5pm with potential half Fridays. Occasional overtime may be requested from your Lead/ Manger. Competitive pay based on experience and abilities, yearly reviews, paid company holidays, benefits.
