Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our Girls Wrestling program as the Head Coach. This full-time position requires a strong commitment to developing athletes both on and off the mat, fostering a positive team culture, and promoting the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. The Head Coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the wrestling program, including training, competition, and athlete development.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program that focuses on skill development, conditioning, and competitive strategies.
- Plan and conduct regular practices, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Organize and schedule competitions, including matches, tournaments, and team events.
- Monitor and assess the performance of athletes, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.
- Recruit and retain student-athletes, promoting the benefits of participation in the wrestling program.
- Collaborate with athletic department staff, parents, and the community to enhance the wrestling program and its visibility.
- Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state regulations regarding athletics and safety.
- Maintain accurate records of team activities, including attendance, performance statistics, and academic progress.
- Foster a culture of respect, discipline, and sportsmanship among athletes, coaches, and parents.
- Attend coaching clinics and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in coaching and wrestling techniques.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
- Previous coaching experience in wrestling, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, strategies, and training methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and competition schedules.
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive team environment for all athletes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, parents, and the community.
