Lawn Care SpecialistI'm not looking for someone who needs a job.
I'm looking for someone who's ready for a bigger future.
There's a difference.
If you're unemployed and just need a paycheck...
I genuinely hope you find one.
But that's not who this letter is for.
This is for the person who's already working.
The one whose boss would hate to lose them.
The one who quietly carries more responsibility than anyone notices.
The one who stays late.
Shows up early.
Does the job right.
The one who has started asking themselves...
"Is this really where I'll be five years from now?"
If that's you...
Let me tell you something I believe.
The biggest opportunities in life rarely happen inside giant companies.
They happen inside growing ones.
Growing companies need leaders.
Growing companies need teachers.
Growing companies need people they can trust.
Growing companies create opportunities that simply don't exist when everything is already built.
That's why I started Blue Duck.
Not because I wanted another lawn care company.
Because I wanted to build a place where good people could build extraordinary careers.
We Don't Hire Lawn Care Technicians.
We hire future leaders.
Today...
You might start as a Lawn Care Specialist.
Three years from now...
You might be leading a team.
Five years from now...
You might be helping open one of our future branches.
Our current Service Manager started at $12 an hour.
Today he leads people.
That's what growing companies do.
Here's What We Care About.
Integrity.
Curiosity.
Ownership.
Kindness.
Work ethic.
Humility.
The ability to laugh at yourself.
If you have those...
We'll teach you everything else.
We'll teach you turf science.
We'll teach you weeds.
We'll teach you soil.
We'll pay for your licensing.
We'll teach you how to solve problems instead of avoiding them.
Because we hire character.
Skills can be taught.
Character usually can't.
You'll Probably Think We're Weird.
You'd be right.
We own a limousine.
We wrote a 177-page book about lawn care.
We give customers rain gauges.
We have an unhealthy obsession with popcorn.
(For the record...it's still good the next day.)
People ask why we do those things.
Because ordinary companies are forgettable.
We're trying to build something people actually enjoy being part of.
This Job Isn't Easy.
You'll work outside.
Sometimes it's 95°.
Sometimes it's 35°.
You'll sweat.
You'll get dirty.
You'll walk a lot.
You'll solve problems.
You'll have customers who know your name.
You'll have homeowners who request you because they trust you.
You'll finish days tired...
But proud.
If that sounds miserable...
You shouldn't apply.
If that sounds satisfying...
You probably should.
Here's What Winning Looks Like Here.
Winning isn't just getting promoted.
Winning is buying your first home.
Winning is paying off debt.
Winning is becoming a better husband.
A better wife.
A better dad.
A better mom.
Winning is learning how to lead.
Winning is having customers who trust you.
Winning is building a life you're proud of.
That's what we're really trying to build.
