Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Gate and Access Control Technician to join our security systems team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of physical security systems, including access control, CCTV surveillance, sensors, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and low-voltage electrical wiring. Your expertise will ensure the safety and security of facilities by delivering exceptional service and technical support to clients. Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot access control systems, including electronic door security integrations and remote access software.
- Conduct system design assessments by interpreting technical drawings, schematics, electrical blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Maintain and repair CCTV surveillance systems, sensors, alarms, fire alarm connections, and intrusion detection systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Perform low-voltage electrical wiring tasks using hand tools and power tools while adhering to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues related to computer hardware, telecommunication cabling, network connectivity, and electrical security systems.
- Provide technical troubleshooting support for physical security system failures or malfunctions in the field.
- Collaborate with clients to deliver excellent customer service by explaining system features, conducting system upgrades, and ensuring client satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician specializing in electrical security systems or related field service roles.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools for equipment installation and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with alarm & access control systems, CCTV surveillance technology, sensors, IDS components, and fire alarm connections.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, technical drawings, and interpret wiring diagrams accurately.
- Knowledge of low-voltage electrical wiring practices compliant with NEC standards.
- Experience with computer networking concepts relevant to security systems such as remote access software and telecommunication cabling.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues efficiently.
- Customer service orientation with clear communication skills to support clients effectively.
- Physical ability to work in various environments requiring standing, walking, lifting heavy equipment, and working at heights if necessary.
