As a seasoned professional with 4+ years in the door industry, you’ll take the lead on complex field work—installing, repairing, and maintaining doors, docks, and related hardware—while upholding rigorous safety and quality standards.
Your morning starts with a well-planned schedule of service calls. You’ll arrive on site prepared to diagnose issues quickly, communicate options clearly, and deliver precise, code-compliant work. Throughout the day, you’ll balance hands-on technical problem-solving with detailed documentation and customer support, wrapping up with quality checks that reflect Vortex’s uncompromising standards.
- Install, service, and troubleshoot a wide range of commercial doors, dock equipment, and associated hardware with the right tools and techniques.
- Diagnose and repair issues involving springs, hinges, locks, electrical components, and more—with welding training available if you’re eager to learn.
- Configure door hardware and systems, including locks, handles, closers, low-voltage components, and access control.
- Ensure all work aligns with safety practices, building codes, and regulatory standards.
- Deliver clear explanations to customers, recommend cost-effective solutions, and provide exceptional service on every visit.
- Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, installations, and required reports.
- Conduct final quality inspections to confirm installations and repairs meet Vortex’s high bar for workmanship.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in commercial door service; applicants with 4+ years of industry experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
- High school diploma or equivalent; AAADM certification is a plus.
- Broad familiarity with door types, brands, and hardware, plus strong hand/power tool proficiency.
- Solid math skills (fractions, accurate tape measure reading) for precise layout and installation.
- Working knowledge of safety regulations and a commitment to safe practices in the field.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation and communication.
- Physical capability to move 50+ lbs, climb ladders up to 20’, work on knees for extended periods, and operate power tools proficiently.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to persuade and educate customers when needed.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and a self-motivated, reliable work ethic.
- Hiring bonus up to $3,000 available for experienced commercial/industrial door technicians.
- Full-time availability within business hours of 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some overtime and on-call work as needed.
