Jo Ann Warren Studio / Studio Youth Theatre is seeking a Theatre Director & Instructor for Fall 2026 to join our performing arts faculty and help create a welcoming, engaging theatre experience for young performers.
This position combines weekly theatre instruction with the opportunity to direct our Fall 2026 musical theatre production, Frozen Jr.

Position Requirements
- Experience in theatre, musical theatre, acting, directing, or performing arts instruction.
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school-aged students.
- Ability to lead a classroom and rehearsal process with confidence and enthusiasm.
- Professional, reliable, collaborative, and able to provide strong references.
- Reliable transportation.
- Availability for the required Fall 2026 teaching and production dates.
- Background check required before employment is finalized.
Preferred
- College coursework or degree in theatre, musical theatre, performing arts, education, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Youth theatre directing experience.
- Experience with choreography, music, technical theatre, set design, or production elements is a plus.
Role Breakdown
Weekly Theatre Instructor
September 14, 2026 – May 8, 2027
Teach bi-weekly theatre classes as part of Studio Youth Theatre's performing arts curriculum. Throughout the season, programming will alternate between voice and theatre, giving students a well-rounded performing arts experience.
Responsibilities may include:
- Developing engaging, age-appropriate theatre curriculum.
- Teaching acting, character development, storytelling, improvisation, and performance skills.
- Helping students build confidence and strengthen their individual performance abilities.
- Collaborating with the voice instructor and studio team.
- Preparing students for performance opportunities throughout the season.
Director – Frozen Jr.
Tentative Fall 2026 Production Schedule:
- Auditions: Saturday, October 3, 2026
- Rehearsals: Saturdays and Sundays, October 17 – December 5, 2026
- Performances: Tentatively December 11–13, 2026
Director responsibilities include:
- Leading the audition and casting process in collaboration with the production team.
- Directing and staging scenes and musical numbers.
- Teaching acting and performance skills with a strong emphasis on storytelling and character development.
- Creating and maintaining an organized rehearsal plan.
- Collaborating with music, choreography, technical, and studio staff.
- Helping create a production experience that is fun, challenging, supportive, and memorable for every young performer.
Additional directing and theatre opportunities may also be available throughout Spring and Summer 2027.
