Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by handing instruments and managing patient comfort.
- Take dental X-rays, including 3D scans when necessary, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis.
- Support the dental reception process by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation to ensure patient safety during treatments.
- Educate patients on oral health best practices and post-treatment care instructions to promote ongoing wellness.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a general or pediatric dentistry setting; familiarity with dental terminology is essential.
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and medical terminology to ensure safe practice.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Certification in X-ray technology; additional training in endodontics or prosthodontics is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient information at all times.
