Title: Technician
Department: Assembly & Service
Description
The Assembly Technician is responsible for the final assembly process of trailers and truck bodies. Technicians work in a large, clean environment and regularly perform tasks such as installing manufactured assemblies onto trailers, running electrical wiring, mounting small engines, running hydraulic hosing, installing tires and axels, using hand and pneumatic tools, and installing subcomponents. Technicians perform these actions by reading work orders and occasionally reading blueprints. Training is available for all new employees.
Many of our Technicians have automotive, diesel, manufacturing, body work, or farming backgrounds.
Sauber Manufacturing appreciates when employees are open to learning a variety of skills or equipment. Additional tasks or tools Technicians may be trained to perform include, but aren’t limited to:
- Building gas power supplies
- Installing hydraulic lifts
- Installing oil filtration systems
- Operate powered industrial trucks
Job Duties
- Read work orders for the purpose of assembling final components of a trailer or truck body
- Use tape measure
- Operating powered saws, drills, grinders, flame torches
- Measure, cut, and install wood planks
- Operate crane, hoists, slings, and chains
- Operate a wide variety of shop tools, such as wrenches and pneumatic drills
- Operate powered industrial trucks
- Communicate safety and efficiency issues to supervisors
- Complete safety and instructional training as assigned and on time. Follow safety procedures and requirements, such as wearing safety shoes and safety glasses in all production areas.
- Moving materials by lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and other body movements, as well as by using carts.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Experience in an industrial setting (whether commercial or education) operating equipment and tools; preferably manufacturing and assembly
- High school diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associates degree, or trade school certification, in industrial technology, automotive or diesel, welding, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, drafting, or related.
- Ability to regularly lift objects between 5 – 20 pounds; infrequently lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
- Read and communicate in English
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
