Job Summary:
The Volunteer Child Caregiver provides essential comfort, soothing touch, and emotional support to infants and young children residing in the women’s residential recovery home. By playing, holding, rocking, and gently interacting with children—particularly while mothers are participating in recovery groups, therapy, or program activities—the volunteer helps reduce children’s stress, promote healthy early development, and support mothers in their recovery journey.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide safe, nurturing physical comfort to designated child through playing, holding, rocking, swaddling, and gentle soothing techniques.
· Read, talk, or sing softly to child to promote positive auditory development and healthy sensory engagement.
· Closely monitor child’s visible comfort levels and immediately alert recovery staff or the child's mother of any signs of distress, persistent crying, or physical discomfort.
· Adhere strictly to health, sanitation, and safety protocols, including thorough hand hygiene and sanitizing toys/items.
· Maintain absolute resident and family confidentiality at all times, respecting program boundaries and privacy standards.
· Arrive reliably for scheduled shifts and accurately log volunteer hours as directed by the Recovery Residence Supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:
· Must be at least 18 years of age.
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Prior experience handling or caring for newborns or children (e.g., as a parent, grandparent, daycare provider, or community volunteer) is strongly preferred.
· Ability to pass a criminal history background check.
