EJT Trucking is a minority-owned commercial trucking company that provides brokerage solutions for construction commodity transport needs across North Texas. We support infrastructure improvement and other projects utilizing the following transport methods: Flatbeds, End Dumps, Tandems, Triaxles, Mixer Trucks, Pneumatic Trailers and Lowboys.
We are a growth-oriented organization seeking a dedicated Lowboy Truck Driver with good communication skills, good work ethic and a teamwork attitude!
Primary Function:
The Lowboy Truck Driver is responsible for operating a truck and trailer for transportation of construction equipment. In this position, the Driver will load construction equipment (may include but not limited to front end loader, crusher equipment, dozer, excavator, oversized loads, etc.) onto trailer and transport to various construction sites. This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of equipment/trucks. This position reports directly to the Field Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment.
- Must be able to read and speak English well enough to understand traffic signs, converse with the public, respond to official inquiries from law enforcement, and complete necessary reports.
- Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines and company policies.
- Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions.
- Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs.
- Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle.
- Load and unload equipment.
- Thorough operational knowledge and skills of trucks and related equipment to be operated.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public at all times.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Field Supervisor.
- Must keep truck in a clean and orderly condition.
- Driver will be responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers.
- When working with co-workers, constant eye contact will be maintained when backing, communicating using hand signals or other movements.
- Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
- Able to work in all weather conditions.
- Perform general labor duties when necessary; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be knowledgeable about overweight/oversize load requirements and permit processes
- Experienced tractor/trailer driver with Class A CDL and good driving record required.
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsement a plus but not required.
- MUST have 5 years previous experience with hauling Heavy Haul equipment.
- Pass DOT pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Pass DOT pre-employment physical.
- Provide valid documentation for I-9 Immigration documentation.
- Willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to work at the designated start time.
- Willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA.
- High school graduate, G.E.D., or equivalent studies/experience (preferred)
- Great attention to detail and stress tolerance.
