Summary
We are actively recruiting individuals from the local community to serve as role players for emergency response training exercises. Participants will portray simulated injured persons, displaced civilians, or other scenario-specific characters. No previous acting or role-playing experience is necessary.
Job Dates & Positions
This is a paid, multi-day opportunity running July 14–16, 2026, in the Barnstable County, MA area. The more days you work, the more you earn — applicants who commit to all three days are prioritized for selection and maximize their total pay.
· Tuesday, July 14 — 25 positions
· Wednesday, July 15 — 50 positions
· Thursday, July 16 — 50 positions
Availability for all three days is strongly preferred. Three-day participants get priority in selection and earn the most over the course of the exercise — Single day applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Responsibilities
- Participate as a background actor in various training scenarios and role-playing exercises.
- Collaborate with directors and other actors to create realistic settings for training.
- Follow directions and adapt performances based on the needs of the scenario.
- Engage with participants to enhance the authenticity of training exercises.
- Maintain professionalism and realism while representing HDS during all activities.
- Accurately portray assigned roles within training scenarios.
- Follow the instructions provided by the training coordinators.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during training.
Requirements
- Experience in theater or performing arts is helpful but not required.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with participants.
- Ability to follow directions and adapt performances as needed.
- Public speaking skills are beneficial for certain scenarios but not required.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old and have a Real-ID-compliant ID issued by your state (required for base access).
- Reliable transportation to the training location.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully.
- Comfortable participating in realistic emergency scenarios.
