Position: Community Security Associate (Armed) CLASS A LTC A MUST!!!!!!
FT/PT: Part time/Full Time/Per Diem/Weekends
Work Location: In Person, location confidential
Schedule: Flexibility is required. Generally, the Community Security Associate works in an office setting on weekdays. Occasional availability is required for large events that may occur in the evenings and/or weekends.
Occasional overtime may be available for special events.
Position Overview
The Security Reception Associate (Armed) serves as the first point of contact for all individuals entering the building. This role combines a welcoming, community-oriented presence with a critical security function: controlling access to the building, monitoring activity at the entrance, and serving as the frontline of a layered security program. The ideal candidate is personable and professional, with a strong awareness of their surroundings and the composure to manage unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
Primary Responsibilities
Access Control & Visitor Management
- Monitor and manage the front entry point, the sole public access point to the building
- Greet all visitors, members, and staff; verify identity as required and log visitor information in accordance with visitor management protocol
- Respond to doorbell requests, assess entry requests via the camera system, and make real-time access decisions in coordination with other security staff
- Ensure doors remain secured at all times except in authorized circumstances
Security Awareness & Communication
- Maintain continuous awareness of activity at the entrance and in the immediate vicinity of the building
- Communicate actively with armed security personnel via walkie-talkie to share observations and coordinate response
- Coordinate with local authorities to report suspicious individuals, vehicles, or activity
- Understand and help lead any necessary lockdown, shelter-in-place, and emergency protocols; maintain exemplary presence in required training and drills
Community Welcome
- Provide a warm, professional first impression to all
- Direct visitors to the appropriate staff member, event, or location
- Answer general inquiries about events or programs
- Support reception operations, including receiving deliveries and notifying staff of arrivals
Required Qualifications & Experience
All candidates must meet the company’s hiring standards, including Massachusetts licensure requirements for armed security personnel, firearms qualification, background check, and drug screening.
- 5-10 years of experience in on-site security field
- 5+ years customer service experience
- Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable interacting with a wide range of people.
- Calm and composed under pressure; able to make sound decisions quickly
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
- Ability to remain alert and attentive during extended periods at a stationary post
- Comfort with basic technology, including camera monitoring systems, entry control software, and walkie-talkies (training provided)
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Military or law enforcement experience strongly preferred
- Prior experience in a security, reception, hospitality, or customer-facing role
- Familiarity with access control systems or visitor management software
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain; required within 6 months of hire)
Work Environment This position is based at the front reception area of the building. The role is an essential part of security infrastructure and requires consistent, reliable presence. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, lift 25–50 lbs, and visual and auditory acuity are required.
