Duties
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently for retail sales transactions, including cash handling and register operations
- Greet customers warmly, assist with product inquiries, and provide product demos when applicable
- Manage stock levels by stocking shelves, organizing merchandise, and conducting inventory checks
- Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities
- Maintain cleanliness of the store area, including cleaning pumps, counters, and display cases
- Handle cash drawer balancing accurately at the end of each shift while adhering to cash handling procedures
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions professionally via phone etiquette and in person
- Assist with merchandising efforts to ensure attractive product displays aligned with store standards
- Support grocery store operations if applicable, including assisting with grocery stocking and retail math calculations
Skills
- Proficiency in POS systems and cash register operations for seamless retail transactions
- Strong communication skills for engaging with diverse customers in a bilingual environment if applicable
- Previous supervising experience is a plus for team support roles
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for cash handling and retail math tasks
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and grocery store operations preferred
- Experience in retail sales environments with an emphasis on upselling and customer engagement
- Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills to foster positive customer interactions
- Familiarity with stock management, product demos, and grocery stocking procedures
- Demonstrated ability to handle cash drawers responsibly while maintaining accuracy in cash handling procedures
