We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Water Treatment Plant Operator to assist in the direction and operation of our water treatment facility. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water while maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring independent judgment, technical expertise, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and regulate water treatment processes, including membrane filtration systems and chemical feed equipment.
- Monitor plant operations using manual and computerized control systems.
- Read, record, and maintain operational data, logs, reports, and charts.
- Collect water samples and perform bacteriological and chemical analyses of raw and treated water.
- Monitor and maintain water levels within the distribution system using remote monitoring systems.
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Assist with training Operator Assistants and oversee subordinate personnel as assigned.
- Respond to emergency situations and work overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of experience as a Water Treatment Plant Operator Assistant.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Required Certifications
- Valid State of Tennessee Grade IV Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification.
- State certification in bacteriological analysis may be required.
