We are hiring a Slitter Operator I to support high-volume manufacturing operations in a fast-paced production environment. This role is responsible for operating slitting and roll-handling equipment to produce finished goods that meet strict customer specifications. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working overnight shifts in a manufacturing setting.
This position is well-suited for candidates with experience in machine operation, converting, packaging, material handling, or general production work.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor slitting and roll-wrapping equipment
- Cut cores to required specifications for production runs
- Weigh, label, wrap, and prepare finished rolls for shipment
- Safely palletize and transport finished goods to storage areas
- Perform in-process and final quality inspections
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and production orders
- Maintain accurate data entry in shop floor and quality systems
- Follow GMPs, SOPs, 5S standards, and safety procedures
- Communicate production status during shift handovers
- Support preventative maintenance activities and report equipment issues
- Issue work orders for repairs when needed
- Provide break relief and assist other operators as required
- Follow all food safety and allergen control procedures
- Participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Ability to work overnight 12-hour shifts
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Ability to use measuring tools (standard and metric)
- Experience in material handling, palletizing, or forklift operation preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Manufacturing, production, or warehouse experience
- Experience with slitting, converting, packaging, or roll-based machinery
- Forklift certification or industrial equipment experience
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment (including hoist systems)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment
Shift: C & D Shift | 5:45 PM – 6:15 AM (12-hour continental schedule)
