Position Summary
- The 2nd Shift Facility Maintenance Technician (Contractor) is responsible for performing general facility maintenance, repairs, and preventative upkeep for plant and office facilities, primarily at the Chelmsford microelectronics manufacturing site, while also supporting additional company buildings as needed.
- This position performs routine maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and repair work involving electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and general building systems.
- The technician works from assigned work orders, conducts routine inspections, documents completed work, and provides limited janitorial support, including trash removal and floor cleaning, when required.
- Strong performance during the initial contract assignment (approximately eight months) may lead to an extension or a full-time opportunity with the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repairs for manufacturing and office facilities.
- Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems.
- Complete preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
- Respond to facility maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner.
- Conduct routine inspections of facility equipment and building infrastructure.
- Document completed work and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and standard maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with general facility upkeep, including limited janitorial duties such as trash removal and floor cleaning when required.
- Support maintenance activities at additional company facilities as business needs require.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required. No college degree is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of facility maintenance experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of general building maintenance experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience performing repairs in commercial, industrial, or manufacturing environments.
- Experience performing basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and standard maintenance equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to safely perform work in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade school certification or vocational training in maintenance or a related field.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or microelectronics facility.
- Previous experience in facilities maintenance or handyman-related work.
