Responsibilities
-
Provide all elements of pre-anesthesia, anesthesia, and post-anesthesia services consistent with the anesthesia plan and in collaboration with the surgeon/anesthesiologist/surgical team
-
Manage conditions based on clinical indication, evidence-based care, cost effectiveness, and assessment of risks/benefits and alternatives
-
Participate in preoperative evaluation including assessment, exam, obtaining informed consent, ordering/administering premedications, requesting and/or review of preoperative studies

Ensure readiness and availability of equipment, supplies, and medications to perform the planned anesthetic
-
Deliver anesthesia care including induction, maintenance, support of life functions, and emergence from anesthesia

Select, obtain, and administer necessary anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, fluids, and temperature regulating devices to manage the anesthetic, assess response, and intervene as needed

Perform post-anesthesia duties including remaining with the patient, facilitating safe transfer of care, administering post-operative epidural pain relief and other post-operative analgesia, and making post-anesthetic visits

Manage emergency situations by assessing, stabilizing, and determining disposition of patients, including providing advanced airway management, administration of emergency drugs and fluids, and using basic and advanced cardiac life support techniques
Candidate Requirements
Degrees, Licenses & Certifications

Master's Degree - Nursing
-
Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and

Nurse Anesthetist certification (CRNA) issued by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and
-
Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license issued by the state of Wisconsin, and
-
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration, and
-
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and
-
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, or
-
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
