Duties
- Develop and implement diverse activity programs that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and health conditions, including memory care and dementia-specific activities
- Coordinate resident events such as outings, celebrations, and social gatherings to promote community engagement
- Assist with daily activities of residents, including helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) such as mobility, grooming, and recreational participation
- Build strong rapport with residents through personalized interaction, active listening, and empathetic communication
- Collaborate with team members to ensure activities align with care plans and individual preferences
- Manage scheduling of activities and resident participation to maximize engagement and enjoyment
- Utilize software tools like Microsoft Office for planning documentation, resident records, and communication with families and team members
Experience
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living facilities or nursing homes
- Prior experience working with seniors, particularly in geriatrics or memory care settings such as Alzheimer’s or dementia care
- Familiarity with long-term care environments and home & community care services is highly desirable
- Knowledge of programming development tailored for geriatric patients or individuals with disabilities
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction, team collaboration, and resident rapport building
- Experience assisting residents with ADLs and managing schedules in a caregiving or senior living context
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite for documentation and program coordination
