Salado Medical Equine Center - PLLC has an opening on our team for a motivated individual to help us care for horses. We are a busy interactive practice with over 30+ team members and we believe in our ability to help people through the care of horses. If you have a desire to help improve the lives of horse owners and help us to grow our business, we want to talk to you. We are seeking a team player to work with our veterinary staff and hospital technicians. Applicants must be self motivated, able to maintain routine physical activity, possess a steady personality, be able to build relationships with our team members and clients, and have the ability to manage their time. Horse experience and computer skills are a requirement.
Duties include (but not limited to):
Restraint and handling of horses
Placing IV Catheters
Collect IV Samples
Administr4 IV and oral medication
Pass NG tube and reflux of horse
Knowledge of basic equine physical and critical exam
Restraint of foals
Knowledge of basic foal physical and critical exam
Data entry into our practice management system
How to safely catch a horse
Run basic lab work (CBC, Chem, PCV, Lactate, ISAT) and in house lab cultures
Bandage limbs
Induction of anesthesia
Monitors indirect blood pressure
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE has the following qualifications:
Equine and animal experience
Understand veterinary terminology
Basic animal husbandry
Tube feeding experiences
IV Catheterization
Computer skills
Communication skills
Knowledge of biosecurity
We are willing to train motivated individuals, but equine experience is a must for safety reasons. We have two (2) positions available: an overnight position from 10 pm -8am and does include weekends and an evening position from 12 noon to 10 pm.. Training for these position will be during normal business hours before moving to the appropriate schedule.
It is support by managing partners, office manager lead technician, receptionists, hospital technicians, laboratory and pharmacy technicians along with part time office and technical staff.
