Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Financial Assistance Specialist provides patient education on insurance benefits, payment options, financial assistance and other state offered programs.
This role meets with patients and families to obtain deposits and payments, answer questions, and assist with the financial assistance process. Also reviews payment options and the collection of outstanding payment.
Contacts insurance carriers to determine eligibility and amount owed. Educates and screens patients for County, State or Hospital Financial Assistance verification.
Reviews Financial Assistance application and follows up with patients regarding incomplete documentation. Stays current on Medi-cal, Medicare, MSN, Covered California, COBRA, limited benefit plans, Worker’s Compensation and Financial Assistance.
Meets productivity standards and escalates concerns and questions to supervisor. May cover for Admissions Representative, CPS Scheduling Specialist, or Self-Pay Collector as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
