American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring OH or compact RN licensure and at least 1 year of PCU experience.

PCU/Cardiac Telemetry unit within a teaching hospital setting
-
Estimated patient ratio of 1:3
-
Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)

Rotating or straight nights required
-
Weekday and some weekend shifts with rotating holiday coverage
-
On-call responsibilities required
-
Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity

Uses Epic charting system
-
Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration

Minimum 1 year of PCU experience required
-
BLS and ACLS certifications required
-
Teaching hospital experience required
-
Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
-
Epic charting experience required
-
Proficiency in IV starts and telemetry monitoring required
-
Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and use of rapid response/code teams
-
Experience with central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
-
Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, tracheostomy care, and oxygen administration
-
Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
-
Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
-
Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and no coworker references accepted

Provide direct nursing care to patients on a cardiac telemetry/PCU unit within a teaching hospital environment
-
Responsibilities include cardiac drip titration, heparin protocols, and management of dysrhythmias
-
Care for patients requiring respiratory support including ventilator care, high flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
-
Isolation precautions and PPE use required as part of daily practice
-
Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines

Local candidates accepted at the same rate

Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
-
Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to work as travelers
-
RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less

Candidates with only 1 year of experience may be considered pending manager review
