American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro PCU position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring Epic proficiency and certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.

Night shift position working 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a large acute care teaching hospital
-
Adult patient population with neurological conditions including stroke, neurosurgical recovery, and neuro-specific diagnoses
-
Unit includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring
-
Care also encompasses medical overflow patients
-
Patient ratio of 1:4–5
-
Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
-
Must work one holiday per 13-week contract

Floating required to units within clinical skillset

Epic EMR experience required
-
Active VA state or Compact RN license; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and participation in Rapid Response/Code teams
-
Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
-
Skilled in medication administration and cardiac drips (non-titrating)

Respiratory support experience including nasal cannula, O2 administration, and non-invasive airway management

Comfortable working at a 1:5 patient ratio

Two professional references required for consideration

Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Position is located at a 703-bed Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine

Hospital is certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center with 24/7 neurointerventional coverage and advanced endovascular capabilities

Block scheduling can be accommodated; all RTO and special scheduling requests must be submitted at time of consideration

Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2-week period
