Our Pizza Cooks prepare and cook pizzas to order while maintaining consistent quality, accuracy, and presentation in a fast-paced restaurant environment. About the Role:
Our cooks are responsible for preparing high-quality menu items according to established recipes, portions, presentation standards, and food safety requirements. Cooks help maintain an efficient, organized, clean, and well-stocked kitchen while working closely with other kitchen employees, Front of House team members, and management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation – Complete assigned preparation work before and during service, including washing, cutting, portioning, measuring, and organizing ingredients.
- Pizza Dough and Skins – Prepare pizza skins by stretching, shaping, and handling dough according to company procedures and established size and thickness standards.
- Pizza Preparation – Apply sauces, cheeses, toppings, and other ingredients according to established recipes, portions, and guest order specifications.
- Specialty and Modified Orders – Prepare specialty pizzas and customized orders accurately, including requested additions, removals, substitutions, and allergen-related instructions.
- Pizza Oven Operation – Safely operate pizza ovens, monitor cooking times, and remove completed items at the proper time.
- Food Quality Inspection – Inspect pizzas for proper appearance, temperature, doneness, portioning, and overall quality before cutting and packaging.
- Garlic Bread and Related Menu Items – Cook garlic breads and other pizza-station menu items according to established recipes, portions, and cooking procedures.
- Pizza Station Readiness – Prepare, organize, and restock dough, sauces, cheese, toppings, tools, and other items needed for service.
- Pizza Station Cleanliness – Keep pizza ovens, equipment, utensils, preparation areas, and surrounding workspaces clean, sanitary, and organized.
- Dish Pit Support – Assist with washing dishes, cookware, utensils, food containers, and kitchen equipment as needed to support restaurant operations.
- Opening, Closing, and Shift Duties – Complete assigned opening, shift-change, cleaning, restocking, and closing duties and checklists.
- Communication with Management – Promptly report out-of-stock products, supply needs, equipment problems, food-quality concerns, unsafe conditions, injuries, order issues, or other operational concerns to management.
- Additional Responsibilities – Participate in deep cleaning, inventory organization, training, special projects, and other restaurant duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous restaurant, kitchen, food preparation, pizza, line cook, or sauté experience preferred.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion standards, preparation instructions, and food safety procedures.
- Basic knife and food-preparation skills appropriate for the assigned station.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, allergen, and cross-contamination practices preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on food quality and order accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently, stay organized, and maintain a sense of urgency in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to accept direction, coaching, feedback, and station assignments from management.
- Ability to maintain a professional and respectful attitude during busy or stressful periods.
- Willingness to assist with cleaning, restocking, dishwashing, and other kitchen duties as needed.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid California Food Handler Card within the timeframe required by law.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on business needs.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, reach, stoop, lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate; and safely perform hands-on kitchen duties involving repetitive motions, hot equipment, sharp utensils, wet or slippery surfaces, noise, steam, and changing temperatures, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Pay: $18.00 - $19.50 per hour
