Collaborative Therapies is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our growing school-based team. If you're passionate about helping students develop the functional skills they need to participate, learn, and succeed in school, we'd love to meet you.
As a School-Based COTA, you'll work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide hands-on therapy services that support students' fine motor skills, sensory needs, self-care abilities, classroom participation, and overall independence.
What You'll Do
- Provide occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
- Implement individualized treatment plans and interventions developed by the supervising OT.
- Support students with fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, coordination, and functional skills.
- Help students improve their ability to participate successfully in classroom routines and school activities.
- Collect data and document student progress toward therapy and IEP goals.
- Prepare therapy materials, adaptive equipment, and activities based on student needs.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, teachers, parents, and other members of the educational team.
- Assist with classroom strategies, positioning, environmental modifications, and adaptive techniques as directed by the supervising OT.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with school district, state, and organizational requirements.
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current state license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, as required.
- Current NBCOT certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), where applicable.
- Ability to practice under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
- Ability to meet all school district background screening and credentialing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous school-based or pediatric occupational therapy experience preferred.
- Experience working with children with developmental, sensory, motor, or functional needs.
- Familiarity with IEPs and special education environments.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Passion for helping students develop confidence and independence.
