Responsibilities
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to foster independence
- Implement treatment plans designed by occupational therapists, ensuring patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions
- Support patient care across various settings including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health visits
- Contribute to the development and adjustment of individualized care plans based on patient progress and needs
- Utilize your knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to accurately document patient responses and treatment outcomes
- Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises and strategies to maintain progress outside of therapy sessions
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment aligned with healthcare standards and protocols
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program
- Prior experience in home health, acute care, inpatient settings, outpatient clinics, or skilled nursing facilities is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of occupational health principles, medical imaging basics, and relevant medical terminology
- Knowledge of assisting with ADLs, geriatrics, pediatrics, and care plan implementation
- Familiarity with physiology and anatomy to support effective patient interventions
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and educate patients effectively
- Ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments such as inpatient units or outpatient settings
