We are seeking an energetic, relational, and spiritually mature Youth Director to lead and grow our ministry with middle school and high school students (grades 6–12).
Position Summary
The Youth Director provides leadership, vision, and oversight for all youth ministry programming at Living Lord Lutheran Church. This individual will cultivate a welcoming and Christ-centered environment where students can grow in faith, develop friendships, discover their gifts, and become leaders in the church and community.
The Youth Director will recruit and equip volunteers, build relationships with youth and families, coordinate events and discipleship opportunities, and help sustain a vibrant culture of faith formation for students.
This position reports to the Director of Operations and Facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesYouth Ministry Leadership
- Lead and oversee ministry programs for students in grades 6–12
- Foster a culture of Jesus-centered discipleship and spiritual growth
- Build strong relationships with students and families
- Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders
Program Oversight
Coordinate and lead:
- Confirmation ministry
- Weekly youth group gatherings
- Youth events (2–3 per month)
- Retreats and summer trips
- Leadership Lab participation
- Youth leadership development opportunities
- Growing Young Ministry Team initiatives
Event Planning & Communication
- Plan and organize youth events and ministry activities
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, volunteers, staff, and congregation members
- Provide updates for church communications, council reports, and annual reports
- Maintain ministry records, procedures, and safety practices
Ministry Development
- Develop new ministry opportunities and creative approaches for youth engagement
- Strengthen and sustain existing youth ministry programs
- Recruit and develop new volunteers as ministry needs evolve
- Collaborate with church staff and participate in regular staff meetings
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with church-wide ministries such as Vacation Bible School and Parent Connection
- Support the overall mission and ministry life of Living Lord Lutheran Church
- Perform other duties as assigned
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Demonstrated Christian faith and spiritual maturity
- Passion for youth ministry and discipleship
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to recruit, lead, and encourage volunteers
- Organizational and event-planning skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a ministry team
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass background checks in accordance with church policies
- Ability to lift 25 pounds and participate in camps, retreats, and youth activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in youth ministry, education, or related ministry leadership
- Understanding of adolescent faith development
- Familiarity with ELCA theology and practice
- Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, education, or related field preferred but not required
